Location

All events will take place at a high school, the Friedrich Ebert Gymnasium, offering very affordable basic accommodation: For 5€/person and night, you can sleep there, provided you bring your own mattress and sleeping bag! Address: Alter Postweg 30-38, 21075 Hamburg.

Other overnight options (hotels and hostels) are in the nearby center of Hamburg-Harburg, e.g., the B&B Hotel Hamburg-Harburg, the Ahoi Hostel or the PHNX Hamburg. (Please make sure, not to mix up “Hamburg” and “Harburg”: Harburg is a part of Hamburg!)

Here’s a link to a Google map of the area where the tournament takes place.

You can reach the school easily by public transportation: it is directly located at the local railway station Hamburg-Heimfeld which has connections every few minutes to the main railway station of Hamburg (“Hamburg Hbf”). Hamburg-Harburg (another high speed railway station) is even closer. Bus line 142 with a connection to Harburg train station and Harburg town hall is also in front of the school.

Hamburg is well connected to the European high speed rail network: a trip from Warsaw, Brussels or Paris takes only 7-8 hours. Prague is even closer, as is, of course, Copenhagen.

If you want to fly, but you’re not a little dragon (like our mascot), then no problem: Hamburg has an international airport which you can reach in only 25 minutes by train from the main railway station. It has direct connections to all major European cities and is also served by discount airlines like Ryanair or easyjet. Bremen and Berlin are other nearby airports.

Prizes and special activities

There will be very nice prizes for the best places by our sponsors. We will also have many non-Go activities when you want to take a break, for instance, a sightseeing trip through Hamburg, and some fun games and workshops for kids about China and East Asia.

We are honoured that at the opening ceremony, the Japanese Consul General Shinsuke TODA will give a welcoming address.
